At just eight years old, Dr. Lewis was involved in a major car accident that resulted in a broken jaw. Her injury needed several surgeries and appointments at the dentist’s office to completely fix it. While the situation was unsettling and overwhelming, it did inspire her to pursue a lifelong career in the field of dentistry. This was thanks to the support and comfort that her dental team provided, who later became her mentors. Now, with well over a decade of experience in the field, Dr. Lewis gets to follow her passion for providing essential oral healthcare, creating amazing smiles, and helping patients feel welcome and safe like she did back then.
Dr. Lewis’ journey into dentistry began after she graduated as the valedictorian of her high school class. She then went on to attend the University of Southern Mississippi to complete her Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences and a minor in Chemistry with honors. Afterward, she studied at the Howard University College of Dentistry, where she obtained the Academy of Esthetic Dentistry Award and the Community Dentistry Award for her excellent performance. She is an active member of the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry and is also certified in laser dentistry and Invisalign.
When she isn’t at the office, Dr. Lewis is likely spending quality time with her husband, Derico (her high school sweetheart), their two wonderful children, and their pet Boxer named Chase. Other than providing essential and comfortable dental care for her patients, she thoroughly enjoys traveling with her family, partaking in community fun runs with her friends, and watching her children participate in their swimming, basketball, and golf events.
Dr. Lewis is very friendly & personable. You can certainly tell it’s genuine. She also spends a lot of time with me, even if it’s just a routine cleaning. Something that’s rare with modern day doctors. The one time I had to get in ASAP she was very accommodating & and I also like that she’s not always up selling other services. Something most dentists do. She’s also very “up to date” with technology & her office is very nice, clean and comfortable. I probably drive by 10 dentists on my 20 min drive from Northern McKinney, but no way I’d switch!!

It’s natural to want to know more about a particular dentist near McKinney and the available services they offer. You may be interested in learning more about how they operate and what you can expect should a particular need arise. At Allen Smile Design, we understand choosing a dentist is not something that should be done quickly. We know you have many questions, and we want to be able to provide a bit more clarity so that you can make the right decision for your oral healthcare needs.
Since dental emergencies tend to happen when you least expect it, you want to make sure you have someone ready on speed dial so that you can get the care you need right away. Finding a dentist that offers same-day appointments will give you greater peace of mind knowing that your broken or knocked-out tooth or lost dental filling can be quickly treated and repaired.
When faced with a dental injury, you’ll want to make sure that you call the dentist’s office immediately so that the team can begin to identify a time for you to come in and see a qualified professional.
No one wants to spend money on visiting a dentist’s office that doesn’t provide high-quality work. The cost is too high to assume that all dental offices are the same, and the professionals all produce exceptional results.
When choosing a dentist, you must take the time to determine which factors mean the most to you. Do you want someone who offers comprehensive dental services all in one location? Do you want your child to see the same dentist as you? Do you prefer a dentist’s office that is closer to your work or home? Are you looking for a dentist who is in-network with your dental insurance or are you okay with fee-for-service payment?
Once you determine the criteria for your search, you’ll soon be able to narrow down your options.
The average tooth extraction is $150-$400. This can be a high price to pay for someone without dental insurance. This is why many dentist’s offices provide additional payment options such as flexible financing or an in-house membership plan. At Allen Smile Design, we provide both CareCredit and Lending Club as well as an in-house dental program that you can easily apply for.
Without insurance, you can expect your dental checkup and teeth cleaning near McKinney to cost between $200-$300. While it might seem like a lot, it is not when you consider the alternative of forgoing regular treatment and being faced with severe dental decay that requires costlier restorative treatment.
However, if you have dental insurance, there is a good chance that you’ll be able to save on these preventive services. Many companies offer 100% coverage for regular six-month checkups and cleanings because of their importance in minimizing oral health risks, which ultimately leads to higher bills for the insurance company to pay.
There are roughly 380 dentists near McKinney! The majority of the time, you can discover this by making a simple Google search with your area in mind to get the answer you’re looking for. That said, the general rule of thumb is that there is typically 1 dentist for every 2,000 people. For instance, a city with a population of 66,000 people may have 30 to 35 dentists. This is the case for general dentists, not specialists. For those interested in improving their pearly whites, you may want to narrow down your search to include professionals who can get the job done. Fortunately, our practice has a 4.9 ranking on Google reviews, and Dr. Lewis is one of the best when it comes to maintaining and enhancing your smile!
For starters, it’s always going to be better to make a same-day appointment by directly giving our team a call. Sending an email to our practice can end up taking too long, and you’ll likely want to get an answer as quickly as possible. A phone is also optimal because it allows our team members to get a clearer idea about your situation so that we can help you get the best care right away. The majority of dental offices typically have an extra operatory (exam room) that is meant for handling dental emergencies as well as same-day appointment requests.
When arriving at one of these kinds of visits, keep in mind that the main goal is to evaluate your oral situation, eliminate the root cause of your discomfort, and develop a proper plan for your future treatment. In some cases, we may be able to provide advanced procedures in a single visit.
There is no singular designation that qualifies a dental professional to be a cosmetic dentist. That said, various organizations provide extensive advanced training on cosmetic dental services. If you’re looking for a dentist to improve your smile, then you’ll want to first find one who’s involved in at least one of these organizations. For instance, Dr. Lewis is a proud and active member of the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry (AAED) as well as the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD)—both of which are two of the highest-profile organizations for cosmetic dental services in the United States!
Remember that dentistry is mainly about prevention. This means the best way to make dental care more affordable for you is to practice daily oral hygiene and schedule checkups and cleanings at least twice a year. Otherwise, you’ll want to make use of certain tools, such as dental insurance to help minimize your out-of-pocket expenses.
If you aren’t currently insured, you can always explore alternative solutions, such as our in-house dental plan. With one low annual fee, you can receive discounts on a wide variety of procedures. We’re also partnered with CareCredit and Lending Club—two third-party financiers that can help split up the total cost of treatment into monthly installments with little to no interest.
