Now that it’s late December, you’ve likely picked out your loved ones’ “big” holiday gifts. Still, maybe you want to get a few dental-related presents while there’s still time. Your friends and family could then celebrate this season with healthier teeth and gums. As it happens, your dentist here in Allen would gladly help you do that. If you need some ideas, keep reading to learn about four great smile-friendly stocking stuffers.
A Soft-Bristled Toothbrush
Toothbrushes may not sound very festive, but they can make great holiday gifts. Many kinds even excite kids and spouses as much as new gadgets, so try putting a few in your family’s stockings.
You should (if possible) tailor each toothbrush to its recipient. For example, you could give your preschooler a brush adorned with cartoon characters. Your tweens and teens may enjoy a toothbrush that sings music. As for a significant other, a high-end rechargeable brand could be the ideal choice.
Flavored Toothpaste
Using the same toothpaste over time can get dull for kids and adults. In fact, a minty flavoring won’t hold its appeal when you brush with it every day. With that said, consider gifting some toothpaste with new flavors.
Today, many toothpaste (and floss) brands don’t taste like mint. It isn’t hard to find ones that appeal to your family members’ unique palettes. After a little digging, you can get toothpaste with flavors like watermelon, orange, grape, bubblegum, etc. Just make sure the chosen products have an ADA Seal of Approval!
A Dental Tool Kit
Tool kits are great gifts for DIY enthusiasts, and the dental kinds are no exception. Consider putting one in your tinkerer’s stocking this year.
As for what to put in the dental tool kit, make sure to include the following:
- A compact mirror to check for left-behind food
- A pop-up folding cup for rinsing
- Mini mouthwash
- Lip balm
Sugar-Free Gum
While putting sweets in stockings is common, try going with a non-sugary option this time. Your friends or family could end up with cavities otherwise.
In particular, you’d do well to choose sugar-free gum as your alternative. It gets its sweetness from xylitol – a sugar substitute that doesn’t decay teeth. Since it also helps produce saliva, chewing it cleans the mouth by washing away food debris.
Of course, the four gifts above are only a few ideas for smile-friendly stocking stuffers. Talk to your dental provider if you want to know about others!
